March 2023
The City and Heavy Constructors are about to begin our water main project. The contractor expects to begin March 14, weather permitting. New 8-inch PVC water lines will be installed and connected to curb stops and fire hydrants. The new lines will replace 50-year old 6-inch main lines and will provide greater water pressure. The City will be funding the $2 million project.
The project will be worked in three phases. Phase One will be along Springbrook Road from the entrance to the intersection with Foothills Drive. The contractor will have 75 days to complete it. The route will be on the north portion of Springbrook Road. Phase Two will be along Horsecreek Road to Mountain Meadow then east to the Springbrook Road intersection. Phase Three will extend Horsecreek to Hidden Timber and east on Hidden Timber. This final phase should be completed by mid-October.
There will be significant traffic flow disruption during all phases. Phase One will be the greatest disruption with most of Spring Brook Acres access limited to the Catron/Nugget Gulch entrance/exit. The enclosed map shows the detour. Many mailboxes will be temporarily moved. Getting in/out of driveways, dealing with trash pickup and other challenges are expected. But after completion roads and landscape should be as good or better and we'll have a more reliable water system! The contractor will be contacting aected residents prior to planned water disruptions.

Pets
We like dogs too, but please clean up #2. Recently there have been some issues with dog walkers not cleaning up after their pets, both on the roads and in the wilderness area. Please plan ahead for walking your pets by bringing bags for excrement removal. If this small step is taken, we will all enjoy the roadways and trails more. Thank you in advance.
Trail Maintenance
Last autumn several residents banded together and did some much needed work on the Springbrook Charlie Trail. The volunteers hauled rocks, logs, and dirt to prevent erosion and keep the trail in top shape. After we all enjoyed cold beverages, trail bars, and a small hike to see some of the lesser known areas of our wilderness. It was a great success and a wonderful opportunity to get to know our community and its members. To those who came and helped we thank you. If you are interested helping with our next wilderness adventure, let a board member know and we will keep you in the loop for future events.
